The evening of Wednesday, April 4, Neighbor2Neighbor had its first orientation session for its new peer-to-peer volunteer network, based on the Transition Network’s Caring Collaborative and Living Well Together – a community-based initiative modeled on the Caring Collaborative. Mimi Grinker, Director of Living Well Together, led discussion and orientation with N2N participant, Jane McCarthy (who is also a member of the Transition Network). Jane will be the first leader of this group. The orientation was held at the apartment of Linda Jacobs who kindly provided wonderful food and drink.

Seventeen of the assembled N2N participants signed up to be charter members of the volunteer corps which will focus on sharing experiences with illness and injury, accompanying peers to doctor’s appointments, doing small tasks if asked, and most importantly: getting to know one another.

If you are interested in learning more or joining the group, we will host another orientation session in the coming months. Orientation is a pre-requisite to joining the group where issues regarding privacy and setting boundaries are discussed, and participants sign a commitment form.
