Mahlon K. Stewart, PT, DPT, GCS: Dr. Mahlon “Lonnie” Stewart is Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Director of Clinical Education at Columbia University’s Program in Physical Therapy. He received this clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Columbia University in 2008, and he is a certified specialist in geriatric physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. His clinical experience is in acute inpatient rehabilitation treating medically complex adults with neurological and orthopaedic conditions. His present practice focuses on treating older adults at home and in the community, and he is President of Neighbor2Neighbor in Greenwich Village, Inc., a grass-roots non-profit organization dedicated to supporting seniors age with dignity in their own homes and neighborhood. Dr. Stewart is presently pursuing a Doctor of Science degree in Health Science with a concentration in Health Promotion and Wellness at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. His research interests lie in investigating community-based solutions to support healthy aging, and strategies to address the population health of older adults.
