In June and July, Neighbor2Neighbor (N2N) volunteers took turns greeting neighbors at our own booth at the Village Alliance’s Positively 8th Street fair and at New York State Senator Brad Hoylman’s Senior Resource Fair in Chelsea. We had more than three dozen neighbors stop by, ask questions, and sign up for this newsletter. Welcome to each and every one of you!
How does one become a participant in N2N? Three words: Just show up!
Neighbor2Neighbor is entering its 6th year as an organization. We are a grass-roots, non-profit, all-volunteer organization “dedicated to supporting seniors in their effort to age with dignity in their own homes and neighborhood.” We consider the central village as our “area” with University Place as our geographical anchor. We run a lecture series from September to June, ongoing social groups that meet almost every moth, an “N4N” peer-to-peer volunteer health network, and we are developing resources on our Resource page as a one-stop area to search for services and outlets for your interests (you’ll also find a link there to Senator Hoylman’s Senior Resource Guide).
Watch for future newsletters to stay on top of our activities. We usually send out one per month. Please drop by to one of our events, and browse our site! Upcoming events include our Annual Rooftop Fundraiser, a gallery tour of NYU’s Grey Art Gallery, and a lecture on preparing to age-in-community!
