Despite the myriad programs available to seniors in New York many go unused just from lack of awareness. My resource fair is an opportunity to correct this problem, bringing together services and seniors under one roof. Moreover, with the possibility of steep federal cuts to a host of important services, events like these are essential to ensure seniors’ physical, social and economic needs are being met. – Sen. Hoylman
Tuesday, July 10 from 2PM to 5PM, Brad Holyman and SEIU 32BJ host the 2018 Senior Resource Fair at the SEIU 32BJ building, 25 W. 18th Street (Between 5th and 6th Avenues). Download the flyer HERE. RSVP is requested (but not required) by either sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (212) 633-8052.
The fair will include attendance by advocacy organizations, healthcare and tech class information, Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE)/Disabled Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE) NYC Rent Freeze information, blood pressure screening, refreshments, and giveaways. There was, at one point, talk of free shingles vaccines being offered. However, due to a national shortage of the vaccine, this will not be happening.
While you are there, pick up a copy of Sen. Hoylman’s Senior Resource Guide which has many valuable contacts. N2N has a link to this resource guide through our Resource page.
