There is a new social group in town: the N2N Diner’s Club. Following is a report from N2N participant, Jane McCarthy, on how the new group is functioning and their two most recent outings:
“Linda Jacobs has taken up the restaurant reservations task, beckoning us to sample vittles at three Village restaurants. I was lucky enough to attend two of these events – at NIX and Feast.
Our first outing at NIX, on University Place, was a feast of unusual food combinations. Who knew that vegetarian fare could be so high end and mouth-watering? Portions are small so the idea is to order several dishes and to share. It’s great for conversation. NIX is popular, which is to say crowded and the noise level just acceptable.
Feast, on Third Avenue at 13th St. has been around for 4 years but was unknown to me and my friends. Its menu features exotic combinations of herbs and spices. Our table all ordered pork chops with celeriac puree. It was fabulous. I assume other entrees are comparable. For dessert lovers the lavender panna cotta was heavenly.
Our Diners Club is open to all N2Ners. If you want to be on the email list and receive notices of the when and where’s, email Linda at firstname.lastname@example.org. Dining experiences occur about once a month. The reservations are always for just four members, so be sure to respond quickly.” – Jane McCarthy
