Carlina Rivera and John Blasco, staff members for District 2 City Council Member, Rosie Mendez, met with N2N at the March 16 meeting to present updates on several city-wide and local issues. Ms. Rivera is the Legislative Director for Ms. Mendez, and Mr. Blasco is the Director of Communications & Scheduling. Topics ranged from bicycle safety and zoning, to the 311 system and The Big “U” development to protect lower Manhattan from future flooding.

Fun Fact from the meeting regarding 311: it seems that 3 complaints on the same issue tends to set off a response (e.g if you have a noise complaint get two other neighbors to make the same call to get quicker action). If you have a smart phone: there is a 311 app that will track all of your cases – and allow you to keep track of your reference number. ALWAYS KEEP TRACK OF YOUR 311 REFERENCE NUMBER. If Rosie Mendez’s office can assist with a complaint, they need the 311 reference number to be able to assist. There is also a 311 Website.
